Donald Trump bragged in a speech to fundraisers about lying right to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's face.

Courtesy of WaPo:

President Trump boasted in a fundraising speech Wednesday that he made up information in a meeting with the leader of a top U.S. ally, saying he insisted to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the United States runs a trade deficit with its neighbor to the north without knowing whether that was the case.

“Trudeau came to see me. He’s a good guy, Justin. He said, ‘No, no, we have no trade deficit with you, we have none. Donald, please,’ ” Trump said, mimicking Trudeau, according to audio of the private event in Missouri obtained by The Washington Post. “Nice guy, good-looking guy, comes in — ‘Donald, we have no trade deficit.’ He’s very proud because everybody else, you know, we’re getting killed.

“ ... So, he’s proud. I said, ‘Wrong, Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know. ... I had no idea. I just said, ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart. I said, ‘You’re wrong, Justin.’ He said, ‘Nope, we have no trade deficit.’ I said, ‘Well, in that case, I feel differently,’ I said, ‘but I don’t believe it.’ I sent one of our guys out, his guy, my guy, they went out, I said, ‘Check, because I can’t believe it.’

‘Well, sir, you’re actually right. We have no deficit, but that doesn’t include energy and timber. … And when you do, we lose $17 billion a year.’ It’s incredible.”

That last part is of course pure bullshit, we have a trade surplus with Canada, not a deficit.

First off Canada is an American ally, not enemy.

Secondly obviously Trudeau knew Trump was full of shit, so what was the point of lying?

And thirdly if this buttmunch cannot even handle diplomacy with our allies, how can we trust him to deal with North Korea?

Fourthly this idiot is still pushing this lie on Twitter.
You know I have no idea how much more damage Donald Trump is going to be able to inflict on America's image, but I know that we have not seen the bottom yet.

"Trudeau was right — Trump’s claim about Canada having a trade surplus with the United States is FALSE. In FACT, the opposite is the case. According to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the US’s trade surplus with Canada was $12.5 billion in 2016."

OT?FB>"Alaska started the longest population decline around the Parnell Era and SB 21. I want to make a specious argument and claim that the Republicans drove them out.
The most likely reason, however, is that human beings are opportunistic creatures and the attractiveness index for Alaska is now negative because our remoteness and weather and cost of living are not balanced by economic opportunity.
I also wonder how much “reality TV” shows about Alaska and the “Redneck Factor” via Palin may have played into this; turning Alaska from a mythic vision of a Last Frontier offering hope and opportunity to just a frozen Wasilla Waller of Kitties & Cletuses. That is hardly attractive.
Finally there is the War Machine. The American War Machine has not inundated Alaska with migrants on the scale of the Light Infantry Brigade buildup presided over by Uncle Thaddeus.
All of these factors play a role I believe.
I will add this note. It does not help having Republican Politicians and their Koch-Funded Weasel Class trying to remake Alaska in the likeness of Kansas.
Before the Pipeline—when immigrants came here because Alaska was new and experimental, a group of homegrown musicians penned a Rock Opera about our State: “Alaska Is A State Of Mind”.
At that time, the late ‘60s, Alaska’s leaders were challenging the young State to fire their imaginations and build a Future that fulfilled the dreams of our Ancestors.
In that context I am ready to lay the decline of Alaska on the same perpetrator that killed the vision those young people sang about 50 years ago: The political economy of oil which has fostered conformity and narrowness of thinking among the leadership of the State.
Now we are bereft of vision just when we most need it.
As for those “fair weather Alaskans” who are not coming here or may be leaving our State: “Good Riddance”."

It never ceases to amaze me how fuckin' stupid this idiot is, and he wears it like a badge of honour! Most Canadians, myself included, see right through his bullshit, yet, he doubles down and believes his own lies!

I'm glad Prime Minister Trudeau called him out on his dysfunction; the fuckin' idiot was even mocking him, just like he does to everyone who confronts him with facts! As his late professor at Wharton opined, "I've never seen anyone so god-damned lazy and stupid as him (trump)!

P.S.- Gryphen, in your last sentence, you probably meant "we have not seen the bottom yet"!

    1. It never ceases to amaze me how fucking stupid and ignorant Trump supporters are.

They came out in droves locally when he inspected his little sample wall trophies. The Mexicans across the border were laughing at him. The local news did some reporting and one child was pointing out the walls easiest to breach.

      It was a fucking circus.

The hits keep on coming... you can't make this fuckin' shit up... - The Canadian Press did some fact-checking of its own, and deduced that fat donald's "meeting" with Prime Minister Trudeau, where he claimed that the U.S. has a trade deficit with Canada, NEVER HAPPENED!!!

It appears the so-called "meeting" was a figment of trump's imagination, concocted last night in St. Louis, to a gullible audience. Will those fuck-heads ever wake up, and realize they are being conned??

      I guess not...

Astute observation: The immature people who mock the millions of people who get cosmetic procedures are the most insecure. Secure people would never even comment on such things regarding others' decisions.

I've noticed that the women who mock people who get such procedures, none of which are bad, are the ones who have the most mental issues.

People who get cosmetic procedures are the healthy ones.

It's taken me 10 years to learn this but it's 100% true.

"President Donald Trump’s new economic adviser called Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a “left-wing crazy guy,” even as he praised Canada as “perhaps America’s greatest ally.”

As the Toronto Star reports, Larry Kudlow, an economist and longtime CNBC host, made the comment March 2 on CNBC while praising the North American Free Trade Agreement and criticizing Trump’s plan to impose aluminum and steel tariffs. Trump has since decided to exempt Canada from the tariffs.

“NAFTA is the key,” Kudlow said. “And unfortunately we’re going after a major NAFTA ally, and perhaps America’s greatest ally, namely Canada. Even with this left-wing crazy guy Trudeau, they’re still our pals. They’re still our pals. Why are we going after them?”

Trump has consistently praised Trudeau, once remarking that he was doing a “spectacular” job.

Kudlow unabashedly supports free trade. He frequently cites NAFTA as integral to American prosperity — putting him at odds with a president who has called it one of the worst economic deals in history. As CBC News notes, He recently told radio host John Batchelor, “My greatest fear … is not the steel thing but that we will walk away from NAFTA — which I think would be a calamitously bad decision.”

Trump is well aware of the policy differences, and they are one of the reasons he hired Kudlow, telling reporters Tuesday, “We don’t agree on everything, but in this case, I think it’s good. I want a divergent opinion. He now has come around to believing in tariffs as also a negotiating point.”"

    1. Kudlow is NOT AN ECONOMIST. He's an economic commentator.

"Kudlow attended the private Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, New Jersey until 6th grade. He then attended the private Dwight-Englewood School from the second half of middle school to high school.[3]

Kudlow graduated from University of Rochester in Rochester, New York with a degree in history in 1969.[4] Known as "Kuddles" to friends, he was a star on the tennis team and a member of the left-wing Students for a Democratic Society at Rochester.

In 1971, Kudlow attended Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where he studied politics and economics. He left before completing his master's degree"

He has a degree in history but he failed to complete a degree in either politics or economics.

He's a TV commentator and has a blog. He worked for Bear Stearns as an economist but that doesn't make him one. My nephew is working as an accountant but other than high school math and an ability to use Microsoft Excel he has no education in accounting.

Jim Cramer isn't an economist either. His degrees are in government and law.

Kudlow and Cramer had a financial show together but neither of them are "economists." I wouldn't take financial advice from either of them.

But then, I don't use the TV for advice like some of the uneducated and easily influenced.

  15. This tweet from Jeet Heer pretty much covers it:

"I'm pretty sure that Justin Trudeau & every other world leader knows Trump is a bullshit artist. It's baked into the cake by now."

Every other world leader (aside from Trump) is not stupid. Even those that haven't met him know what a lying two faced sonofabitch he is. Trudeau has met him and stood up to him. That's why he challenged him point blank with "No, we don't" and Trump had to back down. The fact that Trump later backed off and repeated his lie is expected. It's why Mexico won't deal with Trump. I'm surprised anyone meets with him any more. His promises and assurances are worthless. I'm sure Kim Jong Un knows it too. What meeting with Trump gives him is legitimacy and recognition. Nothing else will come of it if it even happens.

FB excerpts>"Trump openly brags that he "made up facts" in a meeting with a foreign leader and the press just plays along.
    Made up facts.
    Made up "facts."
In the context of information, a fact is defined as: a piece of information used as evidence or as part of a report or news article, a thing that is indisputably proven to be the case, information based on evidence.
    You can't make up facts."
" it's not libel laws that prevent the press from using the words, from saying Trump lied.
    It's cowardice."
"Does it matter what terminology the press uses?
Yes. Yes it does. It matters a hell of a lot.
    Why? HISTORY.
The press is the record of not only our time, of not only FACT, but how we as a people regard the world around us. The press is a record our views, our perception, our civilization in gestalt. It not only records our viewpoint, it helps to shape it. MOREOVER, it shapes history's perception." "This ongoing refusal to use the words, to describe Trump and this failed Congress in bald terms, reflects our inability as Americans to face our failure as citizens of the Republic.
It reflects a profound cowardice in not only the Press itself, but also in us as citizens, as a people, and as a nation."
"in a free society, the Press is THE watchdog of liberty."

      Trump LIES.

Just say it. Trump LIED. He LIES. Trump is ignorant. Trump is stupid.
