Sean Hannity loses it on Twitter after CNN interviews the president of Media Matters about their campaign to get advertisers to stop supporting his Fox News show.

This was the interview that caused the Hannity Twitter tirade.

And this was the result.

As Salon points out these claims that Angelo Carusone is racist, bigot, or anti-semite do not seem to have any basis in fact:

For about a week, Hanntiy has baselessly called Carusone a "racist" and "trans/gay homophobe," even though Carusone himself is gay and the organization he heads, Media Matters, often champions causes of racial minorities.

I will have to assume that Hannity's anger at Media Matters indicates that the campaign to strip him of sponsors is working.

Recently Hannity attempted to get one of the Roy Moore accusers on his show.

Her lawyer's response probably did not do much to help his mood either,

Courtesy of Raw Story:

“Mr. Hannity chose to believe and support Roy Moore immediately after learning about the numerous accusations against him describing sexual assault, child molestation and harassment.”

“Mr. Hannity has belittled, defamed and engaged in an on-air intimidation campaign against the victims of Mr. Moore. He is totally uninterested in discovering the truth,” she said.

“It is laughable to assume that Mr. Hannity is capable of conducting a fair and balanced interview. He is not known for journalistic integrity. He is merely seeking an opportunity to publicly attack and further defame Mr. Moore’s victims,” she continued.

“Well, that’s not happening,” she concluded. “Not on my watch.”

Yep, sucks to be Hannity right now.

I really think that Fox is ready to pull his show already, and are just looking for an excuse to do so.

Losing all of his advertisers and supporting a known pedophile seems like more than enough reason.

    'Florida is on fire'

'And it’s not a controlled burn,' said one top Democrat of the sex scandals wreaking havoc on Florida politics.

The Florida Democratic Party chairman resigned Friday in shame. A Republican state senator faces possible expulsion for sexual harassment. The state Senate’s top Democratic leader abruptly stepped down after admitting an extramarital affair with a lobbyist.

Even amid the flood of sexual misconduct revelations that have rocked state capitals across the country, the nation’s biggest swing state has lived up to its reputation for political drama and excess over the past month, with major implications for next year’s contested U.S. Senate and gubernatorial elections — and the next presidential race.

“Florida is on fire. And it’s not a controlled burn,” said John Morgan, a major Democratic donor, godfather to the state’s medical-marijuana initiative and wildcard possible candidate for governor.

“It was already insane here,” Morgan said. “It’s like Florida just can’t get out of its own way.”

The biggest shock to the system unfolded Friday when the state’s Democratic Party chair, Stephen Bittel, quit after POLITICO Florida reported numerous women and men complained he created an uncomfortable work environment for young women, from leering at them and trying to persuade them to fly on his private plane to using a stress-relieving squeeze-ball shaped like a naked breast.

Moore dodges the press as harassment scandal spirals

Democrat Doug Jones is vastly outspending the damaged Alabama GOP Senate candidate on the airwaves.

..."The story's kind of taken a life of its own. People are examining it from all sides and perspectives, regardless of what the campaigns are having to say about it from either side," said Bradley Davidson, a former executive director of the Alabama Democratic Party.

Moore supporters have been holding campaign events to highlight his support among women. But they have been overshadowed: On Sunday, Alabama Media Group newspapers endorsed Jones over Moore, calling on state voters to “stand for decency” and “reject” the Republican in front-page editorials. The White House is also keeping its distance, with Kellyanne Conway, an adviser to President Donald Trump, telling Fox News on Monday that there are no plans for the president to campaign with Moore. (Conway did add, though, that “we want the votes in the Senate to get this tax bill through.”)

Why Donald Trump Loves Calling Out Black People Like LaVar Ball
The president called LaVar Ball ‘ungrateful’ for downplaying his role in freeing his son and his UCLA teammates from a Chinese prison. But it’s all part of Trump’s plan.

...While LaVar was building his family brand by selling the fantasy of the incredible Ball boys, Trump was implementing a core part of his strategy as president: wherever possible be seen in the position of putting black people in their place, especially in a way that stokes the culture wars. The idea is for Trump to act outraged by something a black person has done, have it be signal-boosted by Fox News and the far-right media, and then Trump can use his bully pulpit to put them in line, thus making him both the victim and the one to clean it up—quickly! Bonus points if putting ’em in line leads to liberals getting upset but the ultimate goal is to be seen standing up to a black person or group of black people on behalf of aggrieved white people. If he’s seen as the protector of white people, he’s winning—

Exclusive: NYT White House correspondent Glenn Thrush’s history of bad judgment around young women journalists

Several women told Vox about their experiences with the star reporter, and the Times has suspended him pending an investigation.

Sexual harassment claims against yet another powerful man in media inspired New York Times White House correspondent Glenn Thrush to post an impassioned note on his Facebook page in October, calling on his fellow journalists to stand by women entering the field.

In the post, which linked to an article about the latest accusations against political journalist Mark Halperin, Thrush wrote, “Young people who come into a newsroom deserve to be taught our trade, given our support and enlisted in our calling — not betrayed by little men who believe they are bigger than the mission.”

It was a noble statement — but some Washington journalists I spoke to say it rings hollow, given Thrush’s own behavior with young women in the industry.

“He kept saying he’s an advocate for women and women journalists,” a 23-year-old woman told me, recounting an incident with Thrush from this past June. “That’s how he presented himself to me. He tried to make himself seem like an ally and a mentor.”

She paused. “Kind of ironic now.”

Why women on Capitol Hill don’t report sexual harassment, explained in 90 seconds

On Sunday, MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt laid out the process for workers to file a sexual harassment claim in Congress in a segment on Kasie DC. In just over a minute and 40 seconds, she makes clear the current setup is deeply flawed: “It’s very convoluted,” she says.

Harassment is a prevalent problem in Congress. A 2016 survey by CQ Roll Call found that four in 10 women congressional staffers believed sexual harassment to be a problem on Capitol Hill, while one in six said they personally had been victimized. The vast majority of cases are likely going unreported.

That’s because, as Hunt explains, the process for coming forward with allegations against staff or members of Congress is anything but simple:

But it was their choice to lean into that fact, and to speak specifically about their personal connections to the story, while their male peers’ more general condemnations of harassment did little to examine their own links to the problem going unchecked within the comedy community."
"For any community touched by sexual harassment and abuse (read: all of them), this type of introspection and analysis will be crucial to moving forward. As more and more comedians are found to be at fault — and considering the way comedy has largely functioned as a boundary-less free-for-all for so long, that seems inevitable — those who make a concerted effort to confront and address their own experiences and connection to the problem are the ones who will be most worth listening to."

    1. I have to wonder if, say Louis CK would have been as hard hit about that severed Trump head as was Kathy Griffin. Yes, she can cross the line occasionally, but was the backlash more venomous because she was a woman? If Tim Allen did it, would he have had less criticism because he's right wing?

Misogyny runs deep in our society. With a few exceptions (Gracie Allen, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett) comedy has been a majority man's field.

Comedy has changed dramatically over the years. Milton Berle could never get laughs with his cross dressing bits now and Don Rickles could never have made a name as an insult comic. I do give him credit for seeing the light early on and dropping it before it became an issue.

MSNBC conservative obliterates Kellyanne Conway for wanting to put ‘an accused pedophile’ in the Senate

...Speaking with MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt, the conversation switched from the latest accusation against Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) to Conway’s appearance on Fox & Friends Monday morning.

Fox News co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Conway about the Alabama election, in light of Moore being accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old when he was in his thirties. “So vote Roy Moore?” he wondered.

“I’m telling you that we want the votes in the Senate to get this tax bill through,” Conway responded — which set Sykes off Monday afternoon.

Sykes began by criticizing candidate Moore.

“I think, by the way, he’s clearly lying about what has happened,” Sykes explained. “He has not asked for forgiveness, he’s not apologizing and he’s threatening the women coming forward. This has been a card that’s been successful in the past and it’s very hard to predict what’s going to happen in a special election like this.”

“That victimization card that people like Steve Bannon like to play as a theme has been effective in the past in rallying the base, getting the base to say, ‘we’re not listening to anything,'” he added.

“By the way, Kellyanne Conway’s comments were breathtakingly cynical,” he continued. “She basically tore the mask off and said, ‘yeah, we’re willing to elect an accused pedophile in order to get our tax bill.’ That is just the naked hypocrisy exposed there.”
