Dylann Roof's sister has a Go Fund account to pay for the wedding that was so inconveniently preempted by her brother's killing spree.

Courtesy of Radar Online:

Amber Roof posted a photo of herself with her fiancé Michael Tyo under the headline “A Fresh Start For Michael and Amber.” The page shows a goal of raising $5,000.

“As many of you know Michael and I had to abruptly cancel our wedding day, due to the tragedy that occurred in Charleston,” she writes in a message on the page, referring to the day her brother gunned down nine people in their Charleston, S.C., church.

“June 21st was suppose to be the happiest day of our lives. It is the day every girl dreams of, it was the day we dreamed of. We had each other, we have the perfect venue, and we had our vows ready to be read. We were ready! We had planned out every detail for months and months. It was going to be the PERFECT day!” she wrote.

“Our day was the exact opposite. Our wedding day was full of sorrow, pain, and shame, tainted by the actions of one man,” Roof, 27, notes, saying her sibling’s sick actions were responsible for “destroying the first day of Michael and my life together.”

Gee, how sad for her.

Here she is trying to start a life with her soon to be husband and her brother goes and slaughters nine people in a church in an effort to start a race war.

I can only imagine how much she has suffered.

Now if you will excuse me I have to step outside and do a little primal screaming.

The entitlement just drips from her, doesn't it? What a poor, sad princess that the shooting just "occurred" all by itself, like lightning or sinkholes and ruined her special, special day. Why, i bet nobody else in the world is suffering as much as she is right now!

Yes, she does. Personally, I've never understood the whole wedding fantasy all women supposedly have (not me), about being a princess, and a perfect day, and "starting our life together", blah, blah, blah, ugh.

My husband and I got married in a courthouse by a justice of the peace. Just the two of us, with office workers as witnesses. No special clothes. Our after party was a drink at the pub together. Our 30th anniversary is next month and he's still my soul mate. I think our 30th anniversary is much more significant than our wedding day could have ever been

agree with 6:22, I keep hearing stories about how perfect weddings were ruined by a cake mishap, or catering, or photographer--is it really all about the party? Or is it about the commitment between two people?

I've one it both ways - HUGE wedding marriage lasted 3 years.

Off the rack day dress, 40 people planned in ten days - JP and two teeens later it's been 20 years.

Soooo...I left her and did just that. (I'm bad, I know). 35 years now...she still makes me laugh.

The bride to be has some balls! Misplaced priorities for sure. GoFundMe has gotten out of hand. Has Bristol set one up yet, so she doesn't have to go back to work at the doctors office? Cause, you know, no mother to be has ever had to work up until delivery day...

But, but, Sarah worked the DAY she got/"gave birth" to Trig and as a matter of her dad's facts she took two flights from Texas to Mat Su hospital with a two-hour layover in Seattle and then drove an hour to the hospital to be induced (because, you know, her water broke back in Texas and she was leaking amniotic fluid all over the plane and all the stewardesses just ignored her and all) and then out popped 8 pound Trig who was two months early and then it was Willow who broke the news to all the family that Trig was Tri -G or Down Syndrome cuz you know none of the doctors or nurses at the delivery noticed. This was on a Saturday and by golly Sarah got right up and showed up to work on Monday, bright and early and even brought Trig with her to show everybody at the office (even though he was a DS, two-month preemie) because you know, she was breast feeding and all. I wonder if she filed an insurance claim to help pay the expenses of childbirth at the hospital because those deliveries are quite expensive and that's why most people have insurance, you know? Now if any of you IMers out there know the wild ride story please correct any of my misinformation. After 7 years my memory of it all is starting to get fuzzy.

It's been pulled, Gofundme realized how slammed they were getting, and how poor taste it was. They should have just gone to a courthouse and gotten married, or a small chapel, or at least just waited til next year and had the "wedding of their dreams". Disgusting people.

Sorry you didn't get the day of your dreams, chickie, but at least you have the rest of your life with the man you love. Thanks to your brother, nine other families are not so fortunate.

No Asshole @6:24, try some decaf and maybe you won't have such a knee jerk reaction. I was referring to the post itself, NOT the heinous massacre of nine great people simply attending church. Just because a person sets up a crowd begging site doesn't mean anyone is forced to donate. For your fucking information, one of the victims was a distant cousin of my stepmother, whom I adore and who has been very shaken by this. I didn't know the victim, but my family and I have rallied to support the affected folks as best we can. This broke the news 2 days ago but it is a drop in the bucket compared to what the victims and their families has been going thru. Have I been succinct enough for you??!!

I have a different take on this. I don't begrudge her trying to get people to help her pay to have another wedding. There is an element of tragedy-exploiting in it, that's true, and what she has lost with the cancellation of a wedding is nothing compared to the loss of her brother's murder victims by the people who loved them. I'm in no way suggesting there is any equivalence. That would be obscene. And yes, this money grab does also seem obscene in light of those murders. Still... I can't begrudge this girl trying to have her wedding. In the overall scheme of things, there is just so much else to get outraged and disheartened about that I can't work up much outrage over this. No, I'm not contributing, but I have contributed to fundraisers for the victims and the church.

    1. I would have hoped that all the businesses involved in the wedding would have, to the best of their ability, either refunded deposits or just fufllled their end of the bargain on the new day, as this clearly was one of those things that was not the couple's fault.

I can only guess they asked for money for a honeymoon because they had to use the allotted honeymoon money to re-engage florists, caterer, band, hall rental, etc. I would actually like to know more details about that but asking for honeymoon money is pretty tacky and Uber-tacky in this situation, IMO.

Talk about tone deaf, self-centered, with a complete lack of any sense of how this attempted money grab would be seen by the larger community. Her offer of a dime on the dollar collected to be donated to the church where her brother went on his killing spree only made matters worse. It was as if she was assessing the damages as ninety percent to her and ten percent to her brother's nine victims and their families.

Maybe if she and her parents had intervened a couple of years ago and gotten her brother the mental health care he desperately needed and if someone had persuaded her father not to give her brother a gun for his birthday, she could have had the wedding/honeymoon of her dreams. She should be ashamed of herself.

However, I do see Dylann Roof's family as another sort of victim. I doubt they knew that he was capable of something so evil, and now they've pretty much lost him forever. And what's worse, is that they have to deal with the notoriety of having a racist murderer for a family member.

I know that was bitchy but she and her fiance really asked for it. Just go away, get married, have children and we'll forget you in a moment or two. I hope you think about this with regret for a very long time. And I hope you pray for the victims and their grieving families. They are the ones who need your prayers.

I saw the link earlier in the comments, and it really kicked me in the gut. What kind of chutzpah has this delusional. self centered, bitch displayed? She was being charitable, though, by donating ten percent to the Church her brother turned into a crime scene.
Did she, or did she not, plan this wedding already, and know it takes money for her perfect day and dream honeymoon? What stopped them from having the wedding? Her brother is in good hands, and she could have well NOT broke her contracts.
Nine people, and the families and people's lives they touched over the years can't set up a "Go Fund Me" site, because they're dead.
Sorry, Miss Roof and your "beloved", a simple civil ceremony costs next to nothing by comparison. Your lack of tact, taste, and sensitivity are sadly misplaced. The tragedy wasn't YOURS.
