I really like this guy. He cracks me up. Has anyone seen his series Extras, on Netflix, I think? Don't know why, but this man makes me laugh, hard.

I loved it when he did the Oscars. He caused quite the ruckus. Some were terribly offended. Really? They invite Ricky Gervais to come host, what the hell were they expecting? I laughed my ass off.

I'm pro-science and anti-religion. But science is only as good as the individuals who practice it, and scientists have been known to have blind spots, to misuse their status for personal gain, and to be arrogant and tradition-bound. So I am not idealistic about it, and to me this quote sounds almost ridiculously reverent.

I agree with you 5:22 AM. I very much enjoy Gervais as an entertainer... but since when have our entertainers become our authorities on many other topics... like science?

This quote is a kind of childish, overly hopeful projection. Gervais speaks as if science is some single conscious entity that maintains consistent behaviour patterns. That's just silly. Science is a complex process, influenced by many factors.

I just saw a movie of his over the weekend, and I am a new fan.
And now this just makes me love him even more.

The movie was called Ghost Town. Very cute, and he was excellent.

Science is just science until pop stars turn it into a religion
