Bleach enemas to cure Autism. The dangers inherent with ignorance of science.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Parents seeking help with children with autism are turning to a “miracle” cure that involves giving the children enemas, using a dangerous industrial solution used for bleaching wood pulp.

According to If You Only News, parents have turned to Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS), containing sodium chlorite which is mixed with citric acid (i.e. orange juice) to make chlorine dioxide. According to the promoters, the solution, which can be taken orally or administered via an enema, can cure HIV, malaria, hepatitis, autism, acne, and cancer.

Miracle Mineral Solution is the brainchild of Jim Humble, who quit the Church of Scientology to form the Genesis II Church of Health & Healing in order to promote his “miracle” cure in Africa and Mexico.

The Food and Drug Administration disagrees with Humble’s claims and has posted a warning on their website calling the product “dangerous” and “potentially life threatening,” advising “drinking the amount recommended on product labels can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and symptoms of severe dehydration.”

Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency warns that chronic exposure to small doses of chlorine dioxide could result in reproductive and neurodevelopmental damage, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued guidance in the use of chlorine dioxide in the workplace.

Kerri Rivera, founder of the website CD Autism (“Autism: Avoidable. Treatable. Curable.”) which promotes MMS, claims that autism is caused by yeast, parasites, viruses, and vaccines that can be flushed from the body.

Courtesy If You Only News:

Parents are using bleach enemas/drinks to try to cure their children of autism. They force the bleach solution into their own children orally or via enemas — both of which can cause serious health issues. Parents report their children fighting, screaming and writhing in pain. The monsters who sell the product online say it’s a miracle cure. The sane population calls it child abuse.

From one parent's Facebook page:

This is quite literally one of the most horrific things I have every heard of, and it makes the actions of the Anti-Vaxxers pale by comparison.

In some cases these parents are giving their children several bleach enemas a day and are literally stripping the lining from their stomachs, which then shows up in their stool. A man named Andreas Kalcher has falsely identified these as "rope worms" and claims that these are among the "parasites" that this treatment flushes from their child's body.

However when tested the "worms" only contain human DNA.

I think we can all understand the desperation of parents searching frantically for something that will magically cure their children and make them behave and think normally, but what these people are doing to their children is nothing short of abusive.

If you read through the entire article at IYON you will likely come away shaken and extremely angry at the assholes who are preying on these poor parents and selling them this dangerously toxic "cure."

Reading that woman's description reminded me of reading and then watching "Sybil" when I was an older teen. These people are monsters, and the people who market this deadly stuff should be hauled off to jail! Someone is going to die, and it will be, as usual, an innocent child.

The moronic monsters are creating a whole generation of serial killers and freaks. I hope they know their kids will pick their nursing homes and that each one ends up in a cockroach infested shit house.

Sybil was the very first thought I had too. If this is real and these parents really are giving their babies daily enemas of ANY type then they should have their children taken away from them.

You just had to know that this horrific snake oil came from someone who has "faith"

That Jim Humble was a scientologist is not just icing on the cake, it's like a certification of insanity.

It's NOT hard to believe that uneducated and desperate parents will believe lies about how to treat their chidren

When the bad advice comes from a "Church", well, then, that right there lends authority to the claims of pouring bleach in a kid's bottom

From their facebook page, they claim:

We are A non-religious church of health & healing set up to serve mankind. We focus entirely on healing and welcome people of all diversities, all beliefs and walks of life; to join us in our mission to bring health to the world.

    Our Church Healing Sacraments:
    • MMS - Sodium chlorite 22.4%
    • MMS1 or Activated MMS - Chlorine dioxide

Get that? Their sacrament consists of Clorox bleach.

    Facepalm x 1000.

And what do you want to bet that this "humble" man has established his own "church" just like Scientology: to gain all the advantages of a tax-free organization while sucking up money from desperate believers?

Yes, our tax dollars will pay for his home(s), income, clothes & jewelry, fancy broadcast and recording systems, publications and distribution of those publications to further his reach.

It will only end when all churches are COMPLETELY taxed as the profitable businesses they are. And once they are regarded as only businesses, they can be investigated for fraud and other crimes.

When "humble" men like this are jailed in common prisons, they will be less apt to advocate child abuse for money.

I am also a grandma with and autistic grandson. This is so sad and these people should be stopped. You do everything in your power to help your child. I even question the 20 hours of ABA therapy sometimes...we're always looking for the right balance for him. I'm also appalled!

This Jim Humble freak should be charged with I-don't-know-how-many-crimes but he should spend his life in prison. And I think it is absolutely despicable that he's peddling his torture cure to Africa and Mexico for poor people to use. It's bad enough here but it certainly should not be exported - anywhere. And it should not be sold here. What kind of insanity has taken hold of people? Why would anyone trust a former Scieftologist and founder of a new looney-bin religion?

There are better ways to chelate toxins out of our bodies. I guess this is what parents are trying to do without help from real doctors.

Chelation is just another way for hucksters to separate desperate people from their money

      And then there's this:

An autistic boy dies after chelation therapy

Christ you people are assholes. Heavy metals such as iron and aluminum and mercury are not filtered by kidneys or livers. Patients with diseases that cause iron overload need to chelate the iron out. I only commented that these parents are looking to chelate as THEY must believe it works. Its annoying to make a comment and get jumped on. Industrial pollution dumps alot of heavy metals in our atmosphere which we breath and eat . Our bodies cant get rid of them all. So what if parents investigate chelation? A good doctor can humor parents by getting levels and then advise if levels are normal chelating is foolish . A quack will chelate.

    8. Anonymous2:01 PM

Heavy metals are dangerous andcan cause mental retardation. Thats why we no longer use lead in paints or water pupes. Its ehy the EPA and WHO have limits on what should be in our bodies. Prudent people should be aware. Desperate parents whose kids have higher than expected levels tried chelation. Some peopl must chelate. Without chelation people with thalassemia die quickly from multi organ failure from iron load.

    9. Anonymous3:21 PM

We aren't talking about people with thalassemia here. We're talking about people who are being lied to about the need to chelate for autism and other disorders.

The OP in this thread suggested that the parents of this autistic child (and other parents who use this method) should be using other methods to chelate "toxins."

No real doctor worth anything will chelate for autism.

You are correct that there are plenty of quacks out there who will lie about test results and who will prescribe (and sell) chelation therapy for imaginary or real disorders when it isn't needed or beneficial. It's a lot of money with no evidence of any benefit.

I'd like to hear your take on what other testing and study of vaccine safety is necessary and how we should go about doing it.

There's a huge literature on vaccine safety. Where are the holes, in your opinion.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous3:34 PM

Well, to start with: Dr. Paul Offit, the rotavirus vaccine developer has stated that it is theoretically safe to give someone 10,000 vaccines at once(amended down from 100,000). I would like for this to be tested with Dr. Offit as the test subject. More realistically, I’d like to see a large long-term independent study comparing the health of vaccinated vs unvaccinated patients done in the US—an expansion of studies like these done in Europe: http://www.vaccineinjury.info/vaccinations-in-general/health-unvaccinated-children/survey-results-illnesses.html

The current schedule for US children is 36-38 vaccinations(double what other developed countries recommend) compared to the 10 given in the 1980’s. We have never before had a population raised on so many vaccinations and no one can tell us the long term effect of manipulating the immune system is such a way. I would like to see this epidemiologist’s study concerning immune system overload expanded as well: http://omicsonline.com/open-access/vaccine-induced-immune-overload-and-the-resulting-epidemics-of-type-diabetes-and-metabolic-syndrome-1747-0862.S1-025.php?aid=24058

    3. Anonymous4:43 PM

And yet the autism rate in the US is on par with other Western countries who have a lower immunisation schedule - if there's a connection, why isn't the incidence of ASDs twice as high there?

Ya'll better stop drinking municipal water from the tap, because chlorine dioxide is in there.
Tetrachlorodecaoxide is what they call sodium chlorite when the doctor gives it to you.
Somehow this is worse than the poisons doctors prescribe millions of time a day?
This is somehow worse than the third major cause of deaths in hospitals.
This is worse than the 7 pages of warnings, precautions, and sides effects on the Merck website for vaccinations?

Being desperate to "cure" a kids autism after its been, I don't know, a year since they've been diagnosed isn't understandable, its ignorance and honestly flat out ableism.

I don't need a cure or to think normally. I need people to accept me as I am.
