Chris Christie demonstrating once again why he will NEVER be the Republican presidential candidate.

Wow, what a dick!

Here is how Raw Story covered this exchange:

A New Jersey activist and Hurricane Sandy survivor filmed during a confrontation with Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Wednesday accused his administration of short-changing a $1.1 billion federal relief package meant to help residents.

“Only 20 percent of those dollars have gotten to the people,” James Keady told MSNBC host Chris Hayes. “Of the $1.1 billion, $219 million has gone out. That means that the governor and his staff in Trenton are sitting on $800 million.”

According to Keady’s advocacy group, Finish The Job, Christie’s administration has mismanaged the Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) while boasting about its success in the public eye.

“Photo ops, Christie, President Obama, everybody walking on the beach, kumbaya, giving the hugs,” he said.

Keady faced off with Christie as the governor gave a speech in Belmar commemorating two years since the hurricane devastated New Jersey. Video of the encounter shows Keady standing in front of Christie bearing a sign saying, “Get Sandy families back in their homes,” prompting Christie to berate him from the stage.

“I’m glad you had your day to show off, but we’re the ones who are here to actually do the work,” Christie told him. “So turn around and get your 15 minutes of fame and then maybe take your jacket off and roll up your sleeves and do something for the people of this state.”

By the way it seems that in a contest as to who has rolled up their sleeves and done something for the people of this state, that this James Keady guy is miles ahead of Chris Christie:

“When the hurricane happened, I actually took a month off from work, dropped everything and volunteered to help clean out peoples’ homes,” James Keady told MSNBC host Chris Hayes. “It actually reached the point within a day or two [that] the borough gave me a borough dump truck running all the clean-up crews all over town.”

You know there has always been this criticism of President Obama that he is a little TOO cool, and does not express his emotion enough for people to relate to him.

But I do not think for a second that that means they would rather replace him with a wannabe "Sopranos" stand in wielding a temper that would make Joe Pesci say "Hey calm the fuck down."

Christie is angry man with virtually no filter. That might play in New Jersey but would do him no favors in the national arena.

After all what's he gonna do, leave a panda head in China Premier Li Keqiang's bed?

Democratic group calls Christie's bluff on 'sit down and shut up' bluster.

    To Whom It May Concern,

The following request is being made in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.) and all other New Jersey open record laws.

At an event commemorating the two year anniversary of super-storm Sandy on October 29, 2014, Governor Christie claimed “I've been here when the cameras weren’t here and did the work [on Sandy recovery]”

We respectfully request a list of all trips to which Christie was referring - specifically trips to the Jersey Shore to work on Sandy recovery, where no “cameras” – from the media or the Governor’s office – were in attendance to record the event. [...]

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

  2. Such a statesman. Would love to see him in a real debate.

  3. I think Christie is setting these "confrontations" up. Every time he gets into political trouble he yells at some "liberal." This all can't be a coincidence.

He has to counteract all that "Obama love" he is being vilified for, before he runs

  4. To understand Christie's appeal, you have to understand that property taxes in NJ are absolutely insane. It's not unusual for a medium-sized house in the NYC suburbs to have annual property taxes in excess of 20k per year. It is widely believed that these taxes are caused by public employee unions. NJ's previous governor, Jon Corzine, promise reform, but then (literally) got into bed with the president of one of the unions.

Christie campaigned as an incorruptible former US Attorney who would take on the unions and lower property taxes. As a lifelong NJ resident, I can honestly say that his blunt bravado initially had some appeal. Initially.

However, most New Jerseyans were shocked at the abuse of power in closing traffic in Fort Lee, and Christie lost a lot of respect. Nobody believes that he did not know beforehand. While he may be one of the few nationally-recognized Republicans who is not Tea Party batshit crazy, his demeanor simply is not presidential and he never would have been a viable candidate for president.

Son of a gun, for once, literally is actually used correctly:

"Her union colleagues said in recent interviews that they had emphatically warned Ms. Katz, president of Local 1034 of the Communications Workers of America, whose romance with Mr. Corzine ended with an unusual multimillion-dollar settlement in 2004, not to contact the governor away from the bargaining table for fear their history posed a conflict of interest."

The guy is a total asshole and needs to take anger management classes! I want to deck him every time I hear him speak. He will never be a candidate for POTUS! He does not have the temperament or negotiation skills.

  6. Yes, literally. Her name is Carla Katz and she was president of one of the locals of CWA. Rumor is he paid her $6M when they split.

      lol

      Don't think it's just a rumor about the $6M

      www.nytimes.com/2007/05/23/nyregion/23carla.html

Mr. Corzine and Ms. Katz, who had both recently divorced, dated for more than two years while he was a United States senator, living together in his apartment in Hoboken, renovating her home in Hunterdon County and talking of marriage.

They have repeatedly declined to disclose the total amount or specific contours of the financial agreement their lawyers negotiated upon their breakup in 2004, but lawyers familiar with the settlement and union officials who conferred with Ms. Katz during the negotiations — all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of political retribution — disclosed for the first time that it exceeded $6 million.

The package was said to include a trust to pay for Ms. Katz’s two children, now 12 and 15, to attend college and a 2005 Volvo sport utility vehicle that cost about $30,000, neither of which had previously been reported. Mr. Corzine also gave — and then forgave — Ms. Katz a $470,000 loan, the value of a mortgage, so she could buy her ex-husband out of their Hunterdon County home. She also received a lump sum of cash that she used to buy a $1.1 million condominium in November, among other things.

Oh, yeah, let's vilify the people who haven't received the federal dollars meant for them. All U.S. taxpayers should be furious.

Yet, the crowd gathered around Christie responded with cheers and applause.

The man will devour a cake if you put it in front of him, only if it's free, of course. He let his bloviated lipid rich blood to boil and spoiled this pre planned photo op that someone screwed up by letting the guy with the sign speak. This is how Chris Christie ticks. He got his temper from his Sicilian Mom and his temper from his Irish Mommy. I guarantee he had to stop for two dozen donuts on the heallycopter ride home. It's his drug of choice.
My sister got escorted from a public meeting for calling him out on what he's done to schools, but not before being called names and belittled for being "just a teacher", He rues the day she chewed him a new exit to the bridge.

  9. This video helps explain why some conservarians call President Obama a 'thug'.

Obviously, Obama is not a thug, but when the reds realize one of their own is actually a real thug, preemptively calling a non-thug a thug helps to inoculate their thug against the charge of being a thug!

Here's a short play to illustrate my point. The scene is two tall middle-aged men in denim jackets and brown penny loafers talking in front of Hoover Dam but it could be any two people anywhere wearing anything.

"That Christie is a real thug!"
"No he isnt. They are all thugs! I heard Mark Levin say Obama is a thug."
"Who the fuck is Mark Levin?"
"Doesnt matter. The point is when everyone is a thug, then no one is a thug!"
"So... Christie isn't a thug... because... Obama is a thug?"
    "Exactly!
    "Is Obama a thug?"
"Doesn't matter. If Mark Levin says Obama's a thug that's enough to let Christie off the hook for being a thug!"
    "Because they're both thugs?"
    "Now you're getting it!"
"Even tho Obama isn't a thug and Christie IS a thug?"
"Say... you're even smarter than you look!
    "Man... Politics sure is complicated."
"Not really. Here. Take this card into the polling booth. It'll help you decide who to vote fore."
"Wait a minute! It's just a picture of a puppy and it says 'vote Republican or we'll shoot this dog"
    "What's your point?
    "YOU'RE A THUG!"
"We're all thugs. Ask Mark Levin."

I noticed that, too. She stood there the whole time with this shit-eatinmg grin on her face. Bizarre. Christie's behavior was not normal, but obviously the wife buys into it.
Apparently she is the major breadwinner in the household, too. Wall street something making the big bucks.
Christie: not presidential. He comes across as an asshole bully.

What is upsetting these folks is that Christie is sitting on about $800 million that is to be used for superstorm Sandy fixup. If you really think Christie would have had a conversation with the guy then there is a bridge ...

Why is the federal government not auditing the funds for the Sandy cleanup? Obviously giving the $$ to Christie to distribute is not working out well for those displaced by Sandy.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That $800 million went to salaries and "overhead". The public will never see that money.

Christie can't even manage his state, let alone the entire country. Anyone that votes for him is a fool in every sense.
