The premiere of The View, featuring the new cast, was the best premiere in eight years and the second best of all time.

Courtesy of USA Today:

The revamping and reinvigorating of The View worked.

For a day, anyway.

ABC has happily announced that The View's Season 18 premiere on Monday, showcasing newcomers Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace with returning Rosie O'Donnell and veteran moderator Whoopi Goldberg, was the best premiere in eight years.

The show drew 3.9 million total viewers, making it the best since O'Donnell joined the cast in 2006.

Well I'm still not going to watch, but congratulations ABC.

Of course the first thing that came to mind is that ABC really dodged a bullet by refusing to even consider hiring Sarah Palin. Because that would have undoubtedly driven the show's ratings into the cellar.

And of course the second thing that occurred to me is that this must also just drive the Wasilla Wendigo crazy, and only adds to her worst week ever.

Yes we do. We know that you are NOT a host on The View.
By the way if you missed the episode and really want to see it just click right here.

  1. Gryphen, people hear what they want to hear.

What we hear is "The View, without The Screechy Wretch(tm), did very well."

What she hears is "The View did very well because they mentioned The Screechy Wretch(tm) by name."

I was a faithful View fan until Jenny McCarthy....someone I can not tolerate on any level. I watched the new show and basically was totally unimpressed. That RO VS RO was so stupid...please. I don't think they can recapture the magic they had....Joy & Whoopi were the show. Working for Bush makes Nicole Wallace poison...sorry, I won't be watching.

I've never liked McCarthy, but the damage she's done through her false statements about vaccines and autism really infuriated me. Because so many people believed her early statements about the dangers of vaccines, many children will not receive the protection they need, and she very well may be the cause of needless deaths from preventable diseases.

@2;12. Agree. Ro vs Ro-loser. The show lacked cohesion. I remember Nicole from Bill Maher's show with her continual hyena laugh. I like Perez, but something was missing.

I never watch the view. I like both Rosies. However the first show went. They can always improve. They are terrific.

Wallace is not to be trusted. She is another criminal. Can't tell me she doesn't know what John McCain and Cindy know about Sarah.

I think it is great if she has that job at The View when Baby Triggy Bear pops into mainstrean as Sarah's fraud. The whole Wild Ride and Sponge-bob episodes. All of it.

    BREAKING!!!

Another eyewitness to the Palin family brawl emerged on Tuesday, telling TPM she was shocked by the violent punches she saw being thrown by the eldest daughter of former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Roberta Thompson spoke to TPM by phone from her home in Alaska. Until now, her husband, Eric Thompson, has been one of only two people to go on the record about what took place at the Sept. 6 house party in Anchorage. (Eric Thompson has said he was later fired from his job for speaking to the media.)

The melees at that night's party have led to an ongoing police investigation and reports that Sarah Palin's husband and son were injured while tussling with other party guests before the family was kicked out of the house.

"It was just so shocking," Roberta Thompson told TPM.

She mostly confirmed what her husband told multiple news outlets last week, saying that the two of them were right next to each other during the incident. But she provided her own take on how the events unfolded, including a portion that she said involved the eldest Palin daughter, Bristol Palin, and the owner of the house, Korey Klingenmeyer.

"What I saw was two girls run past and run towards Korey," Roberta Thompson said. "And then I just saw Bristol Palin start punching him in the face."

"It was quite, quite violent," she added.

She said Klingenmeyer was clearly upset about what was happening but maintained his composure.

"She kept punching him and then he just said, you know, 'You need to go,'" Thompson said.

Klingenmeyer escorted the Palins around the corner from there, Thompson said, and she did not see what happened after that. Other news reports of the incident have said another physical altercation involving members of the Palin family broke out after that. One report cited an anonymous source who said Sarah Palin was "nearly crawling on top of people" and shouting profanities during the later altercation.

Roberta Thompson didn't see Sarah Palin directly involved in any of the fights but she did notice the former Alaska governor's red, white and blue sneakers.

"I try not to pay too much attention because she doesn't mean anything to me," Thompson said. "I'm not a big fan."

She said she wishes she took out her cell phone to capture all the mayhem.

"I didn't know what was going on at all," Thompson said. "I just, if, if I would've known a little bit more, I probably would've taken my phone out."

She also expressed her frustration about the police investigation and that no charges have been filed. She said she, her husband and a number of other party guests spoke to investigators that night.

"I just think when people assault other people that they should be arrested," she said. "Or at least charged. Especially when there's that many eyewitnesses. I don't think just because you're a Palin that you should not have to suffer the same consequences as any other person."

I guess the police didn't hear that part. Why would they allow a 6 year old to go home with out of control drunks? Even if it was the mother, an aunt or a grandmother that was out of control with anger.

What? How about there is no evidence that ABC even for a moment ever considered that idiot Palin for the position.

Can you really be said to have "dodged a bullet" if the gun went off miles away?

  12. I too think they love the paparazzi because that means to them they matter, they are "somebody." Don't you find it weird that we see no candid shots of them in the tabloids for ever then following this melee suddenly shots pop up of them doing everyday normal things? Wasn't it after Willow and friends allegedly trashed someone's house that a photo of Bristol (and Nancy French, or someone) showed up of them shopping at Cotsco or WalMart, now we see Bristol and Piper doing the same, cart filled with grocery items for a big loving family, Sarah is seen leaving a gym ... it is like "LOOK AT US! We are just regular, everyday people going about our business, not getting into fights." NOT!

Supposedly taken the Monday after the Brawl, didn't Bristol and Willow have to get a restraining order for the stalker and there was a custody hearing?

      BRAWL WAS 9/6.

I suppose you can contact Daily Mail to clarify date. If they said 'Monday' (9/15) they may know that is the date and where they got the pic.

I agree, Palinland called the paps. Something went wrong, however, with Sarah's part.

She may have thought it would be after her massage.

It occurred to me someone in Palinland set Sarah up for the wrong photo shoot. They may be sick of her.

Bristol was dressed and not in her usual caught at the market by paps look.

They must have figured they needed to be seen. It has been over a week and that was not looking good for them to hide that long.

"hiring Sarah Palin ... would have undoubtedly driven the show's ratings into the cellar"

    Oh, not SO, Gryph.
Had Sarah Palin been on with Rosie O'Donnell and Rosie Perez and Nicole Wallace - at least TWICE as many people would have tuned in.

Tuned in to see Sarah Palin go down in sobbing FLAMES, of course. But still - we WOULD have tuned in.

ABC would be smart to ask Sarah Palin to be a guest...
and then publicize the hell out of it...
and of COURSE Sarah would NOT have the guts to go on that show.
    Never.
    Ever.

Because Sarah hasn't either the will or the capacity to sit on the same panel as those other women and she knows it.

But then the View's regulars could sit and cackle and make fun of Sarah all day every day for the rest of the week.
    (the month?)

I caught this interchange today, and something tells me that ABC is already looking for a replacement. The look on Wallace's face when she realized she wasn't on Fox news or one of the prime time tv news shows was priceless, like the ending of an ALS "Challenge" video. Rosie O and Rosie P along with Whoopi was an excellent choice. Nicholle is smart in one way, but has little wisdom to go with it. She's like a tomato without salt.

Those pictures of Sarah in her yoga outfit that she herself posted to her Facebook were staged. She's not in the parking lot anymore. She's at her compound - hence the toys in the background. Her hair has been brushed up in place a bit and she's smiling. The paps caught her off guard and Sarah was tryng to stage an end-run around the inevitable photos that were going to be published. She's very transparent. Only her sicko fans can't see through her.
