True Blood star responds to Sarah Palin's attack on the show. (Oh, and I might have made a teensy weensy mistake as well.)

Courtesy of Deadline:

True Blood may be into its final season, but the HBO show wasn’t treating its likely last Comic-Con appearance with anything but a ravenous appetite and a bit of bite. Specifically it was former GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin who got chomped. “She’ll weigh in on anything,” castmember Kristin Bauer van Straten said disdainfully of Palin revealing that she turned down the attempt HBO made to get the ex-Alaska governor on the show for its most recent broadcast. Besides a bloodbath at a fictional fundraiser for real-life Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the July 20 episode had several digs at the GOP including one character referring to herself as “a Republic**t.”

Deadline goes on to address Palin's rant about True Blood's attitude toward Conservatives which of course we covered here.

You will also note that the website discloses exactly WHEN Palin was offered the role, which as it turns out was for the episode that played last Sunday, which is something that I got wrong in my post last Friday.

In my defense it is usual to refer to episodes in numerical order which would mean that the last one would be episode 75, not five. However it was not reported that way which led to the confusion.

There were arguments for both cases. Offering it to Palin back when she was a relative unknown would have meant that she would not carry quite so much baggage as now, giving the producers the slim possibility of presenting her character as something other than a horrible bitch, but offering her the recent one with the word "Republicunt," and Pam's obvious disdain for the Republicans, does not seem like something even a person as desperate for employment as Palin would nibble at.

So we wrong, Palin was offered the opportunity to appear in the more recent episode five, and she did not take it.  Glad we have that settled.

Here is more of what Bauer van Straten had to say about our favorite Alaskan bloodsucker:

“It’s sweet many, many years later that I’ve made her angry, I had fun doing it,” said the actress who plays vampire Pam Ravenscroft of first hearing Palin’s name and the way she reacted to the cabler’s offer. Van Straten’s remark got huge applause from the thousands in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center.

I really love Pam's character. And since this is the final season I am going to really miss this show.

You're absolutely correct in that Gryphen, as you will see clearly noted on this Wikipedia article. Episode 5 happened on October 5, 2008. Episode 75 happened on July 20, 2014.

I had this one right. Why would they ask her back when no one knew how much of a republicunt she is? Made a lot more sense to take a swipe at the whiny little girl dog now that most everybody sees what a nasty, hateful pos she truly is. Her own party thinks she's dirt, her earning potential is dropping like a rock. She'll have to agree to start being the butt of jokes to snag any gigs soon. She's circling the drain at top speed. Bye bye bitter harridan.

Circling the drain is very good but the actual evacuation out of the bowl is taking way too long. A 'turboflush' bowl is needed in her case. She's a persistent floater. The slow 'sendback' to her point of origin is irritating.

Was she going to play the part of this actresses' GRANDMA?

  3. In any event, it's more likely she turned it down because there wasn't enough, or any, money attached to the request. She is only too obviously willing to appear in public stoned, drunk, dirty, wearing someone else's shoes, etc. And willing to screech out word strings unconnected to any particular thought.

What sleazy digs on CO: 'Todd's reminder, don't inhell' (sic), Rocky Mountain High reference, and a riff on their 'mountains' compared to AK.

Palin's latest facebook post celebrates that one in three Americans (per a CNN) want an impeachment by the House that there is no possibility the Senate would convict. In other words, expend tax dollars on a pointless House activity.

Both politics and the machinations of Hollywood are too much for Sarah Palin's brain to comprehend. Adrift in a sea of incomprehension, she selects random facts and tries to make them into either a victory or another trophy in her personal Victimhood Hall of Fame. Because it's always all about her precious self.

That means that the majority of people DO NOT WANT IMPEACHMENT. As a matter of fact, when they poll just Republicans, a majority of them don't want impeachment either. The reason is simple it will mobilize the Democrats more than anything else. They will donate and vote in record numbers. Following Bill Clinton's impeachment, Newt Gingrich, who was Speaker of the House, lost his job. The House may waste more time voting to impeach, but it takes two thirds of the Senate to remove from office. With so many really important international things going on, it is a great waste of the President's time and the country's resources. Anything on Sarah's Facebook that is longer than a few sentences was written by a failed screen writer who is about as angry as Sarah is. It's a call for attention. And it's a call to put her on Fox to repeat her worn out theme. Good luck with that.

Sarah bombed on SNL. She was a disaster when she appeared with Gibson and Couric. She turned down almost all offers to be on TV, except for the million dollar contract with Murdoch. Don't flatter yourself too much, Sarah. Those offers are not going to be pouring in. They will be drying up.

Hey Sarah, how about celebrating your hero Nixon's near-miss with impeachement? No?

      Phony, hypocritical, Republicvnt.

Sarah "Republicunt" Palin needs to stop holding grudges.

      Sarah

The African-American family occupies the White House
The African-American president is not a quitter like you

Also, too, an overwhelming MAJORITY of citizens voted for him over Grandpa Walnuts and YOU. Every time you show your ugly mug and spew your bile, more and more people are HAPPY that President Obama is in the WH, with his careful, measured, intelligent responses to any and all crises.

Palin's and those like her have the same game plan: dominate the air ways with their propaganda until it seems like the truth. We need to show them the REAL TRUTH in these mid-term elections. We need to come out in force, both those surviving, sensible Republicans and Democrats.

Just another chance for old seditious sarah to play "victim", too bad, so sad, just can't wait until ALL her money is gone and she's working the pole at the rainblow lodge or at a tent revival harping on her glory days that never were, bwahahahah

Someone who knows the world sees Sarah as a Republicunt, that's who. She's been publicly called one by a few including Maher and Cher. Not to mention the ones that call her that behind her back - including most of all Gramps McCain who called his own wife one.

    OT:

Sarah Palin believes 33% of people polled by CNN want Obama impeached is a movement in a Facebook post yesterday. But Sarah, what about the 65% that want you to shut the fuck up?! Ok, both are very unlikely

Hockey is a brutal sport. Gentle mothers don't encourage their children to play hockey. Look for smart women at soccer games and at indoor track events in winter. Hockey is a blood sport, same as football.

I've never really watched True Blood, but now that it's in its final season, I'll have to catch it on Netflix or Amazon (or wherever it's free) and do some marathon-watching of it. I was never patient enough to wait a week... then months.. for new episodes of anything. So this is good news for me :)

OK. So it wasn't the most recent episode. I was one who thought how preposterous of her to bring it up oh-so-many years later. If I jumped the gun, I accept that.

But, to my mind my point was the same as it is now. She only said something because this episode got a LOT of attention and she saw something she could "hang her name to" to become part of the discussion.

    1) As I understand it, Sarah refused to respond to the inquiry about her being in the show. She had NO idea what was in the script so she can't claim she "stood up" for her principles or refused to be a "Republic*nt" and all that war on women commentary of hers that goes with it.

    2) If she HAD at least listened to them, they say they would have offered her the script ahead of time. So, by IGNORING them, she missed the chance to actually take a stand for these "issues" she's so fond of spouting off.

    3) As always, we know Sarah, right? She hides, she avoids, she whines and then she takes DOUBLE credit for something she didn't do.

Yeah, and HBO wanted to hire Sarah to play herself in "Game Change," too but they had to settle for Julianne Moore. Julianne won an Emmy for that role, and she also stuck it to Sarah. How is that audition for the view working out, Sarah?

Gina and John must be so proud of their oldest child, (18 year old Lyda) having a sleazy 57 year old actor as her boyfriend.

I am sure it is every parents wish that their teenage daughter is having sex with someone much older than them.

Gina, do you have visions of Steve and Lyda having oral sex?

Yes, Pam's character is luscious and must be fun for an actor to portray. "How sweet......." LMAO!!!!!
