The "Duck Dynasty" clan isn't the draw it used to be. Not even in the Bible Belt.
Promoters announced last month that members of the Robertson family would appear at a show titled "Faith, Family & Ducks" at an 11,000-seat arena in Springfield, Mo.
For $37, $50 or $58, fans could enjoy live music and hear the bayou millionaires talk about "living the American dream" while staying true to their "family values and modest lifestyle."
But according to local media reports, the April 27 event has been canceled due to low ticket sales.
What? Nobody wants to pay money to watch a bunch of fake hillbillies talk about their faux religious faith, and how they bilked millions out of unsuspecting consumers?
What's happened to this country?
It appears to me that the Palin curse is still working its magic.

It's so great to read about people who joke about these things. And mock themselves.
I know I will get an enormous amount of hate for this, but I think that's why people do like Sarah. She doesn't put on airs or act like little miss perfect housewife. She mocked her early in life lack of cooking skills. Though she has better honed skills now. She actually lets her family make appropriate normal adolescent mistakes while still trying to guide them toward happiness and in the past away from boyfriends that caused more tears than smiles.

You must be an idiot if you think having one nver married daughter with a small child who lives one boyfriend after another; having a son who vandalized 50+ school buses by cutting fuel lines and slashing tires; another daughter who led her drug and alcohol using gang of friends into a vacant home and did thousands of dollars worth of damage. The man who defended California’s Prop 8 ban on same-sex marriage all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court has changed his mind on same-sex marriage, now that he’s learned his daughter is gay and getting married. Charles Cooper, whose defense of the unconstitutional voter ballot initiative often times seemed flawed and even embarrassing, now says his views on the right of same-sex couples to marry are evolving, and he reportedly is actively helping his daughter plan her wedding to a woman.
“My views evolve on issues of this kind the same way as other people’s do, and how I view this down the road may not be the way I view it now, or how I viewed it ten years ago,” the Associated Press reports Cooper saying in a highly-controversial new book Forcing the Spring: Inside the Fight for Marriage Equality.
Cooper told the AP that his family “is typical of families all across America.”
“My daughter Ashley’s path in life has led her to happiness with a lovely young woman named Casey, and our family and Casey’s family are looking forward to celebrating their marriage in just a few weeks,” he said.
Perhaps ironically, Cooper had also argued that the Prop 8 judge, Vaughn Walker, was obligated to recuse himself because he is in a long-term same-sex relationship. The judge in that heard described Cooper’s defense as “struggled.”

It was a repeat, but what insecure both the girls showed themselves to be. Bristol became a tad more comfortable w/Joan but that Willow was a little shit. Bullheaded as hell. You can assuredly see Sarah in Bristol - some of the expressions and the way she said things - quite defensive.

ReplyDelete...Your Republican alleged “Marxist, Muslim, Kenyan, illegitimate, Nazi, Socialist” President will be celebrating Easter and is reflecting on the sacrifices Christ made so that Republicans could be cruel and laugh at the poor for mankind.
The President also mentioned following Christ’s example by loving our neighbors as ourselves, and that won’t go over well with the Right wing ‘Christians’ who claim that Jesus loved self-serving rich people who impose austerity on the little children out of contempt for their poverty.
Obama said in his statement, “This weekend, Michelle and I join our fellow Christians in marking Good Friday and celebrating Easter. We will reflect on the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us and rejoice in the triumph of the Resurrection.”
The President continued, “This season reminds us that God is always with us, in suffering and in celebration. We give thanks for the many blessings in our lives and renew our commitments to follow Christ’s example by loving God and loving our neighbors as ourselves. We wish all who celebrate a blessed Easter.”
Normally this sort of thing wouldn’t be controversial, but with a Republican Party that doesn’t believe the first black president is “legitimate” and also believe he’s not a Christian because apparently black people aren’t Christians (?), the President referring to his religious beliefs has now become a reason for a Right wing freak out.
We will let them freak out whilst the rest of us enjoy our sanity over the Easter weekend. It’s worth noting that the President’s version of Christianity is the one shared by most Americans, and the hate and division preached by the Right is most loud but also more fringy.
