So yesterday John McCain held a townhall. Did not go so well.

Oddly enough the man in the picture screaming at McCain was NOT asking what the hell he was thinking by inflicting Sarah Palin on the country, but instead was pissed off about immigration.

Here is more from HuffPo:

During a heated town hall gathering in the Phoenix suburb of Sun Lakes, McCain said the border near Yuma is largely secure, but said smugglers are using the border near Tucson to pump drugs into Phoenix. He said immigration reform should be contingent on better border security that must rely largely on technology able to detect border crossings.

McCain said a tamper-proof Social Security card would help combat identity fraud, and noted any path to citizenship must require immigrants to learn English, cover back taxes and pay fines for breaking immigration laws.

"There are 11 million people living here illegally," he said. "We are not going to get enough buses to deport them."

Some audience members shouted out their disapproval.

One man yelled that only guns would discourage undocumented immigration. Another man complained that undocumented immigrants should never be able to become citizens or vote. A third man said undocumented immigrants were illiterate invaders who wanted free government benefits. McCain urged compassion. "We are a Judeo-Christian nation," he said. McCain's other town hall meeting took place in Green Valley, south of Tucson.

The guy that said "only guns" would stop the flow of immigration wanted to know why the army was not situated along the border killing Mexicans trying to cross the border. You know, because THAT would be a reasonable use of our military forces, and because the the mass slaughter of non-whites is probably allowed somewhere in the Bible.

Clearly these town halls attract more than their fair share of Teabaggers, but whose fault is that? If McCain had not swooped down and plucked the Grizzled Mama from the wilds of Wasilla, there is a fair chance that the Tea Party would not have so quickly achieved national recognition and they may not be undermining the opportunity for civil discourse today.

As far as I'm concerned this is the political environment that John McCain helped to create and seeing him taking heat from the lunatic fringe is schadenfreude at its finest.

By the way Buzzfeed has the video of this event which does a far better job of explaining how crazy this town hall really was then simply reading about it on HuffPo. Check out the age range among these participants to get an idea of where they undoubtedly get their news.

Doing something about Mexico wouldn't be a half bad use of the military. It would make more sense than the Iraq debacle. Mexico is descending into anarchy and is deporting a lot of crime to the North. And make no mistake-- the reason the Retards oppose immigration reform has a good deal to do with cheap labor.

All they have to do is start arresting and imprisoning the people who HIRE undocumented workers for this to end.
As for McCain's facts, he has a lot of them wrong. Illegal crossings are down to almost negative due to a better economy south of the border and the war zone those further south have to cross to get in here.

Hey! I live here in Mexico and haven't seen any "descending into anarchy and is deporting a lot of crime to the North" here in my area. This country is as diverse and multi-cultured as the U.S. The problems you speak of are at the border and the neighboring states on both sides. I'd like to see both sides uniting their forces, but unfortunately, it will cost you because the cartels pay much better than the government.

Legalize drugs and it will cut down on a whole helluva lot of crime.

If his brain rots any further, McCain will propose building the banana on the other border of Arizona.

  2. Strange in the media no one's made note of McCain's "We're a Judeo-Christian nation". A lot of citizens of other faiths and no faith at all might take exception to that.

Let's never forget John's little come to Jesus moment in MN when the crazy woman from Lakeville told him Obama was an Arab and left McCain to ponder what kind of monsters he'd awakened with Palin. Sara Palin will go down as the Tokyo Rose of the century with her message of hate and racism awakening the slumbering masses of shit who would otherwise have kept their own vitriol confined to their rec rooms and nursing homes. Shame on you John for betraying your country when you selected Palin.

  4. Regarding this (McCain): "We are a Judeo-Christian nation":
Religion in the United States is characterized by a diversity of religious beliefs and practices. Various religious faiths have flourished, as well as perished, in the United States. Religions that span the country's multicultural immigrant heritage, as well as those founded within the country, have led the United States to become one of the most religiously diverse countries in the world.[1] A majority of Americans report that religion plays a "very important" role in their lives, a proportion unique among developed nations.[2]

The majority of Americans (73-76%) identify themselves as Christians and about 15-20% have no religious affiliation.[3][4] According to the American Religious Identification Survey (ARIS), which was cited by the US Census Bureau in their 2012 Statistical Abstract, 76% of the American adult population identified themselves as Christians, with 25% identifying themselves as Catholics, and 51% identifying themselves as Christians spanning some 30 religious groupings. [5] [3] The same survey says that other religions (including, for example, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism) collectively make up about 4% of the adult population, another 15% of the adult population claim no religious affiliation, and 5.2% said they did not know, or they refused to reply.[3] According to a 2012 survey by the Pew forum, 36 percent of Americans state that they attend services nearly every week or more.[6]

Despite a high level of religious adherence, only 9% of Americans in a 2008 poll said religion was the most important thing in their life, compared with 45% who said family was paramount in their life and 17% who said money and career was paramount.

The USA is getting less and less christian and I am one of those that fit that category. The government tries to sell us as a 'christian' nation and look at those in Congress that profess themselves to be god fearing! They are Republicans mostly, have children out of wedlock, have affairs, have numerous divorces and on and on. Assuredly are not living the god fearing ways they were supposedly taught.

McCain is the worst example of a 'christian'. Hell awaits him there is no doubt!

"John McCain admits in 2000 he'd be too old to run in 2008

Jim Lehrer on News Hour and admits that he'd be too old to run in 2008 fro President.

Lehrer: Finally for the record, you have not lost your desire to be President of the United States have you? McCain: Certainly it's been put in deep cold storage. haha.. Lehrer: You haven't lost it? McCain: Well, in 2004, I expect to be campaigning for the reelection of President George W. Bush, and by 2008, I think I might be ready to go down to the old soldiers home and await the cavalry charge there."

John has turned into a really bitter OLD man. Rather than take responsibility for Sarah as his pick dividing and destroying the whole Republican Party, he is not going to go out well. Sarah will always be his legacy and he has lost all his credibility. Both Sarah and John are so jealous of Obama and both will go down with the ship because of it.

Oddly (or maybe not so oddly) the communities McCain chose to have these town hall meetings are very small retirement communities that in no way reflect the diversity of age/race/political orientation of the state as a whole.

Typical Republican political theater, as usual totally backfiring and reinforcing their negative stereotypes.

McCain insists on answers about Benghazi. Maybe he should be forced to defend invading a country that didn't attack us, and his choice of Sarah Palin to be one heartbeat away from the presidency in 2008.

The guy is a fucking jerk and doesn't deserve being a member of our inept Congress. I hope AZ citizens don't reelect him next go around. He talks out of both sides of his mouth, picked the idiot Sarah Palin as his running mate, lost the election (thank God!), loves wars, changes his opinion constantly on various matters and cannot be trusted. Plus, he graduated at the bottom of his military school, crashed numerous military airplane and has not lived up to his Dad's quality (military man) in any way shape or form.

I agree that John McCain has had a major hand in creating the teabagger mentality. In fact, he shares it until it jumps up and bites him. His comment that this is a "Judeo-Christian country" had nothing to do with the situation and was probably his visceral reaction to the attack. He would have been better advised to talk about the rule of law and the need for compassion for people who feel desperate enough to move far from their families and cultures.

McCain has acted just like his teabagging attackers in the Town Hall on the Senate floor and in Senate committee hearings. His behavior during the Benghazi uproar, largely caused by him and his GOP buddies, and his behavior at the hearings for John Kerry's nomination to be Secretary of State and Chuck Hagel's nomination to be Secretary of Defense are perfect examples.

John McCain deserves every unpleasant confrontation that he gets.

It takes a seriously f#*Ked up electorate to elect crackpots. McCain almost sounds like a Democrat here, as he is speaking realistically.Obviously there is no shortage of dipshits in Arizona, otherwise they wouldn't be sending assclowns to Congress. Ditto you, texas, Jokelahoma, etc.
